Buying crypto with euros in Austria
EPS-Überweisung connects directly to Austrian online banking and is the familiar domestic option; SEPA instant transfer is equally quick and normally cheaper. Both are accepted by exchanges serving Austria.
Vienna also has a long-standing network of crypto ATMs and over-the-counter shops. They are convenient but typically cost several percent more than an exchange.
- EPS — bank-authenticated, credited in minutes.
- SEPA instant — cheapest route, seconds to arrive.
- Card — instant with a 1.5–3% fee; occasional issuer blocks.
- Crypto ATM / OTC — no bank involved, noticeably higher premium.
Which coins to use from Austria
Each coin below is accepted at one or more of the casinos we review. Confirm in the cashier before you buy, since support varies per site.
- BTC — Accepted everywhere. Use the Lightning Network option when a casino offers it — normal on-chain fees rise whenever the network is busy.
- ETH — Widely accepted, but base-layer fees can be high for small deposits. Check whether the casino supports Arbitrum or Base.
- USDT — The most common stablecoin. Always match the network the casino shows — TRC-20 is cheap, ERC-20 costs more.
- USDC — Regulated stablecoin, popular for bankroll that should not move with the market. Often available on Solana and Base.
- LTC — Low fees, fast confirmations, accepted at almost every crypto casino. A good default for smaller deposits.
- BCH — Cheap and quick. Supported less often than LTC, so check the cashier before buying.
- XRP — Settles in seconds for fractions of a cent. Some casinos require a destination tag — never omit it.
- DOGE — Cheap transfers and common in casino cashiers; high price volatility while you play.
- SOL — Very fast and cheap. Increasingly the default for stablecoin deposits too.
- BNB — Accepted through BEP-20 cashiers with low fees. Make sure you send BNB Smart Chain, not Beacon Chain.
- ADA — Accepted at a growing number of sites. Deposits need a few minutes to confirm.
- TRX — Mostly used as the gas coin for TRC-20 stablecoins, but also accepted directly.
- DOT — Accepted at a minority of casinos. Double-check the deposit address format before sending.
- MATIC / POL — Polygon deposits are cheap and quick; confirm whether the casino labels it MATIC or POL.
- LINK — Available at larger crypto casinos as an ERC-20 token; fees follow Ethereum.
- XMR — The privacy option. Only a minority of casinos support it, and some exchanges in the EU have delisted it.
Fees and timing in practice
Euro funding is cheap; the coin you pick decides your real cost. A stablecoin on Tron or Solana, LTC or XRP moves for cents and confirms fast.
Bitcoin on-chain and Ethereum mainnet make sense for bigger balances, where a fixed network fee is a small share of the deposit.
Cashing out to an Austrian account
Withdrawals normally return to the wallet that funded the account, then to an exchange, then by SEPA to your Austrian bank. Most sites release crypto withdrawals within minutes.
Expect identity checks on larger sums at the exchange rather than at the casino, and keep the deposit and withdrawal trail consistent.
Legal and tax basics
Austria's Glücksspielgesetz reserves online casino gambling for a single national concession holder, so offshore crypto casinos are not licensed for the Austrian market and you play outside domestic consumer protection.
Since the 2024 reform, crypto gains in Austria are treated as capital income taxed at 27.5%, with domestic providers withholding at source. Gambling winnings follow separate rules — check with a Steuerberater.
Step by step
- Check which coins and networks the casino cashier lists.
- Buy that coin with euros via EPS or SEPA instant.
- Send it to your own wallet first.
- Deposit to the casino, matching the network exactly.
- Cash out through the same path and keep your records.
