Buying crypto with euros
Germany has the deepest choice of regulated exchanges and brokers in the EU, several of them with BaFin-supervised custody. SEPA instant transfers arrive in seconds and cost little or nothing.
Beware of the convenience gap: broker apps are simple but charge a wide spread, while exchanges give better pricing for a little more effort.
- SEPA instant transfer — cheapest and usually credited within seconds.
- Standard SEPA — free at most banks, one business day.
- Debit or credit card — instant, roughly 1.5–3% fee; some issuers decline gambling-adjacent payments.
- Regulated German brokers — easy onboarding, higher spread, straightforward tax reporting.
Which coins to use from Germany
All of these are accepted somewhere across the casinos we review. Check the cashier of your chosen site first — support differs per operator.
- BTC — Accepted everywhere. Use the Lightning Network option when a casino offers it — normal on-chain fees rise whenever the network is busy.
- ETH — Widely accepted, but base-layer fees can be high for small deposits. Check whether the casino supports Arbitrum or Base.
- USDT — The most common stablecoin. Always match the network the casino shows — TRC-20 is cheap, ERC-20 costs more.
- USDC — Regulated stablecoin, popular for bankroll that should not move with the market. Often available on Solana and Base.
- LTC — Low fees, fast confirmations, accepted at almost every crypto casino. A good default for smaller deposits.
- BCH — Cheap and quick. Supported less often than LTC, so check the cashier before buying.
- XRP — Settles in seconds for fractions of a cent. Some casinos require a destination tag — never omit it.
- DOGE — Cheap transfers and common in casino cashiers; high price volatility while you play.
- SOL — Very fast and cheap. Increasingly the default for stablecoin deposits too.
- BNB — Accepted through BEP-20 cashiers with low fees. Make sure you send BNB Smart Chain, not Beacon Chain.
- ADA — Accepted at a growing number of sites. Deposits need a few minutes to confirm.
- TRX — Mostly used as the gas coin for TRC-20 stablecoins, but also accepted directly.
- DOT — Accepted at a minority of casinos. Double-check the deposit address format before sending.
- MATIC / POL — Polygon deposits are cheap and quick; confirm whether the casino labels it MATIC or POL.
- LINK — Available at larger crypto casinos as an ERC-20 token; fees follow Ethereum.
- XMR — The privacy option. Only a minority of casinos support it, and some exchanges in the EU have delisted it.
Fees and timing in practice
Funding in euros is close to free with SEPA instant. Your real costs are the exchange spread and the network fee on the deposit transfer.
For routine deposits, stablecoins on Solana or Tron, plus LTC and XRP, keep costs to cents. Reserve Bitcoin on-chain and Ethereum mainnet for larger amounts where the fixed fee matters less.
Cashing out to a German account
Casino withdrawals go to your wallet, then to the exchange, then out by SEPA to your bank. Established crypto casinos pay out in minutes; new accounts or large sums can trigger verification first.
Keep exportable records. German banks and exchanges are used to crypto flows, but they do ask about sudden inflows, and a clean trail makes that conversation short.
Legal and tax basics
The Glücksspielstaatsvertrag 2021 regulates online gambling in Germany with tight slot limits and a national player-blocking file. Offshore crypto casinos do not hold a German licence, so you play outside that protection.
Private crypto sales are generally tax-free in Germany after a one-year holding period, and taxable as a private sale within it — but gambling activity changes the picture. Confirm details with a Steuerberater.
Step by step
- Open the casino cashier and note the supported coins and networks.
- Fund a regulated exchange by SEPA instant and buy that coin.
- Move the coin to a wallet you control.
- Deposit to the casino address on the exact network shown.
- Withdraw the same way and export your transaction history for tax records.
